Fortela Denim

Fortela was founded by Alessandro Squarzi, a Milan-based fashion entrepreneur and collector of unique, often vintage, fabrics. The brand produces mainly in Italy and Japan, choosing makers, materials, and techniques for their authenticity and for garments that gain character over time. Its men’s jeans use Japanese selvedge denim and are sewn on Union Special machines dating from the 1930s and 1940s. The denim line looks back at archival selvedge styles, with models such as the John, Johnny, and Sean.
