Tanuki Denim

Hailing from Okayama, Japan, Tanuki is a denim label founded by a group of craftsmen who have chosen to remain unnamed. The brand takes its symbol from the tanuki of traditional Japanese myth, and its logo, 二 (Ni), is the Japanese character for two. Its fabrics are woven on shuttle looms, with long experience in kibata, untreated raw denim, at the center of its work. Signature cloths include the natural indigo rope-dyed Yurai selvedge and Kakishibu, which pairs rope-dyed indigo with a tannin dye.

Actual garment measurements for all 18 Tanuki models in the Fit Finder: waist through leg opening, with widths measured flat and the waist doubled.
