About Cottle

Cottle was founded in 2015 in Kojima, Okayama, by Toshiaki and Yukari Watanabe, who met as classmates at Bunka Fashion College in Tokyo. The brand works from a renovated 130-year-old textile building, with a small in-house sewing team and most production partners within a short drive. Since its founding, it has used natural pigments and materials, and its Bengara Jeans pair indigo denim with selvedge thread dyed in bengara, a red iron oxide that took four years to develop.
