About Hiroshi Kato
Founded in 1999, Hiroshi Kato is a Japanese-American denim and workwear label that pairs a love of vintage clothing with an emphasis on comfort. Its signature fabric is a proprietary four-way stretch selvedge denim, developed over several years with Japanese mills and woven on shuttle looms. The brand weaves the denim in Japan and sews it in Los Angeles, where it has kept its offices and production side by side in Gardena since 2015. Design director Nick Takayuki draws on his own vintage collection, taking cues from hardware, stitching, and older machinery.
