About 45R
Founded in 1977 in Aoyama, Tokyo, 45R began under the name 45rpm before taking its current name. The company develops its own fabrics and yarns, then works out a shape suited to each material, and much of its cotton, wool, and linen is processed in its own workshops. In 2000, it introduced R by 45rpm, a line centered on indigo and aizome. 45R is known for naturally hand-dyed textiles, indigo in particular, and its Japanese-made denim is dyed so the color fades gently over time.
