About The Flat Head

Founded in 1996 by Masayoshi Kobayashi, The Flat Head began as the original label of Desert Hills Market, an American casual shop in Nagano. The brand aims to make vintage-replica jeans, drawing on old denim fabrics and sewing details, and its flagship Pioneer denim, introduced in 2001, is woven at a mill in Kojima. Its jeans carry chain-stitched hems and yokes, concealed back-pocket rivets, a goat leather patch, and lemon-colored arcuates. The Flat Head holds that a garment only reaches its full value once its owner has worn it in.
